# 3.	How many bronze sculptures were known before 1400?

Reformulation as relative clause: Show all Antique Monuments that are made from bronze and that are documented in Postclassical Works which are from before 1400.

a.     Open advanced search and select „Antique Monuments“. If Antique Monuments is enabled in the Source as Data Set and Postclassical Works is disabled, the search form for Antique Monuments will open automatically.

b.     Select the “Description” panel and open the three dot menu below “Materials”. A new search mask “Antique Monument - Material” will pop up.

c.     Search for “bronze”. You may also search for the term by browsing through the list.

d.     There will be two results: (1) "bronze" and (2) "bronze (?)". The latter, "bronze (?)", is assigned to Antique Monuments for which it is unclear whether the material is actually bronze.

e.     Select “bronze” and click “Select 1 record(s)” to merge this request into your advanced search.

f.      Select the **Relationship** panel and then select the three dot menu below “Postclassical Work”. A new search window (Postclassical Work) will pop up.

g.     Select the “Advanced Search” to open up the Advanced Search mask.

h.     In the “Overview” panel you will find the “Creation” section. There are four date fields available. Enter **1400** in **Latest Date → End** and click “Add to search”. It is crucial to use the **Latest Date → End** field to filter the Postclassical Works to those created before 1400. Using Latest Date → Start would instead return Postclassical Works whose creation date range ends before or at 1400 but may extend well beyond that year. As a result, the filtered set would include works that were not necessarily completed before 1400.

i.       Intermediate result: 1,833 records. Click “Select all” in order to add this result to your advanced search.

j.       Click “Add to search” in your advanced search.

k.     Final result: 27 records.

**Interpretation of result:** At the moment (July 2026), there are 27 Antique Monuments in the Census database that are made from bronze and that are documented by Postclassical Works from before 1400. Some of these monuments are now lost or untraced and are only known through the fact that they were documented in Postclassical Works.
