# Image Preview and Full-Screen Image View

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: You can enlarge or reduce the image preview box using drag-and-drop at the bottom of the panel
{% endhint %}

By default, the **Detail view** appears with an image preview if image files are available for the record in the Census. You can switch this on and off independently via the preview button:

If there are multiple images for a record, you can browse through them by navigating the buttons on the lower right of the preview field:

You can also zoom into the image in the preview by using your mouse or by clicking on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner. An icon for zooming in and out will then appear in the top left corner (see image). You can then navigate the area you wish to look closer at with the mouse.

To enter full-screen mode, click on the magnifying glass icon at the top right and then on the full-screen button that then appears to its left (see image below). The 'X' in the upper right-hand corner takes you back to the normal view of the image preview.

To access the full-screen mode directly, click the middle button with the icon in the **Detail view** menu bar:

Here you can see the image in full resolution and enlarge it. You can also browse through the gallery to see other images displayed in the current search.
