Provenance

In Provenance, the provenance history of the Antique Monument is documented on the basis of individual provenance events.

Provenance History: under this heading, you will find a list of individual events within the provenance history of the monument.

Event Type: the type of event is specified here, e.g., an excavation or inclusion in a collection.

In the Actors Involved field, you will find information about persons who were involved in the respective provenance event. In the field Actor, the name of the person is displayed, and under Actor Role, the role of this person with regard to the event is specified. The Attribution of Actor Role field indicates whether this role was attributed in the Renaissance period or represents a current opinion.

In the field References or Sources, sources are given that support the attribution of persons to this event or their role. These sources can be Postclassical Works (Postclassical Works field) as well as bibliographic sources (Bibliographic Reference field).

In the field Date of Provenance Event, you will find metadata concerning the dating of the provenance event. In the Date field, the date is given. The Earliest Date and Latest Date fields delimit the period in which the event took place. The Falls within Period field likewise indicates the time period in which the event falls. The Attribution of Provenance Event field indicates whether the attribution of the date of the provenance event took place in the Renaissance or today.

In the field References or Sources, sources are given that support the date of this event. These sources can be postclassical works (Postclassical Works field) as well as bibliographic sources (Bibliographic Reference field).

Location of Provenance Event: this field displays metadata about the location of the provenance event. In the Location field, the name of the location is given, with records that are superordinate in the hierarchy of the data given above in grey. The field Attribution of Location is used to specify whether the location was attributed in the Renaissance or today.

In the field References or Sources, sources are given that support the location of this event. These sources can be postclassical works (Postclassical Works field) as well as bibliographic sources (Bibliographic Reference field).

In Comments you might find comments from Census editors, which can refer to any part of the provenance history and which, for example, offer additions or more detailed explanations of the information contained in the record. The comment itself appears in the Comment field. You might find data under the Earliest Date of Comment and Latest Date of Comment fields to indicate when the comment or note was written. In the field Author of Comment, the name of the person who wrote the comment or note is given.

Under References or Sources, sources that substantiate the information about the accessed provenance history are provided. These can be Postclassical Works (Postclassical Works field), bibliographic references (Bibliographic Reference field), as well as Antique Monuments (Antique Monuments field).
