Description

Under Description, the Antique Monument is described in more detail in terms of its form, materials, content, and state of preservation.

The Class field specifies the class to which the monument belongs. The class is the primary artistic medium of the monument, such as architecture, sculpture, painting, mosaic, numismatics, etc.

Data is provided under Uncertainty if the assignment of the class is doubted by experts. This doubt is indicated as an Uncertainty (Uncertainty field) and who expressed it (Person attributing Uncertainty field). In the comment column (Comment) reasons or other comments are given regarding doubts about the class of the monument.

The Type field specifies the artistic medium of the monument. For example, a painting is described here more precisely as a mural or a sculptural object as a sarcophagus.

Data is provided under Uncertainty if the assignment of the type is doubted by experts. This doubt is indicated as an Uncertainty (Uncertainty field) and who expressed it (Person attributing Uncertainty field). In the comment column (Comment), reasons or other comments are given regarding doubts about the type of the monument.

Under Materials, the material of the monument is indicated, such as marble, wood or terracotta.

Data is provided under Uncertainty if the assignment of the materials is doubted by experts. This doubt is indicated as an Uncertainty (Uncertainty field) and who expressed it (Person attributing Uncertainty field). In the comment column (Comment), reasons or other comments are given regarding doubts about the materials of the monument.

In the Condition field, you will find information on the past and present condition of the monument.

Under State, an indication is given of the state of the Antique Monument, such as 'damaged' or 'restored.' Several entries are possible here. Under When First Known or in Present, the time of this state is indicated so that data about the condition of the Antique Monument in these two different time periods can be represented.

Data is provided under Uncertainty if the state is doubted by experts. This doubt is indicated as an Uncertainty (Uncertainty field) and who expressed it (Person attributing Uncertainty field). In the comment column (Comment), reasons or other comments are given regarding doubts about the state of the monument.

The Reasons for Observation field lists the reasons for documenting the condition of the ancient monument, such as 'excavated' or 'described in ancient literature.'

Data is provided under Uncertainty if the reasons for observation are doubted by experts. This doubt is indicated as an Uncertainty (Uncertainty field) and who expressed it (Person attributing Uncertainty field). In the comment column (Comment), reasons or other comments are given regarding doubts about the reasons for observation.

Under Sources, the sources for the condition descriptions of the Antique Monument are indicated. The first line shows the reference. The Earliest Date and Latest Date fields delimit the possible period of dating of the reference. The field Falls within Period indicates the associated time period of this reference for the state.

The Actors Involved field shows the people who have been involved in the condition of the monument in a specific way, such as a restorer. The name of the person appears in the Actor field, and their specific role is indicated in the Actor Role field.

Originality: This field indicates whether the monument is an original or a replica. This field usually only concerns the sculpture class.

Data is provided under Uncertainty if the originality of the Antique Monument is doubted by experts. This doubt is indicated as an Uncertainty (Uncertainty field) and who expressed it (Person attributing Uncertainty field). Number: The number given here describes the number of all objects identical to the current object that have been preserved. This concerns, for example, the identical columns of a faรงade. These columns are not all modeled as individual records in the Census but are combined in one record with their respective number indicated.

Descriptive Details: This text field provides a detailed description of the monument using keywords. All significant visual and/or architectural elements are listed.

Dimensions: Here, you will find measurements of the monument. In Measurements, these are given as free text (e.g., height: 203 cm).
